The University of Virginia's Leadership Development Center (LDC) strives to be the Academic community’s provider of choice for products and services that develop individuals’ interpersonal and leadership skills and promote organizational effectiveness.

As a division of University Human Resources, we provide learning opportunities, tools, and strategies that support individual and organizational excellence, including the following:

  • Exceptional Assistants' Network for assistants across Grounds

  • Supervisory Essentials for those new to supervision

  • HOOS Managing the U.Va. Way for supervisors and managers with a minimum of three years of experience

  • Leadership Strategies for more experienced managers

  • The Managing at U.Va. series for all who supervise the work of others

  • The Alumni Leadership Network for graduates of LDC programs

  • Executive Onboarding Program for new University Staff and their faculty equivalents

Additonally, we provide organization development services to the wider University community. These services could include, and are not limited to:

  • fostering improved team or individual performance

  • creating uniquely designed solutions to challenging departmental issues

  • helping leaders create and implement a strategic plan

  • facilitating departmental retreats

  • coaching leaders.
