Our temps are flexible, adaptable, dependable, and committed. We offer a range of temporary jobs from entry level to specialized positions, in part-time or full-time service, across all schools, units, departments, UVA Health, University Physician’s Group, and affiliated foundations. How Does It Work?

University departments request a temporary employee by submitting a requisition in Workday. We review our pool of applicants based on the department’s need and contact potential candidates regarding the assignment. Candidates who have never worked as a UVA temp employee must schedule an appointment and undergo the screening process.

If selected by the Department Hiring Manager, temporary employees are provided with detailed information about their assignment and how they will be paid.

In addition to career advancement, UVA Temps offers a quick and efficient hiring process and an opportunity to provide live-time feedback about your placement and experience. UVA Temps can also connect and network with supportive colleagues, many of whom served as temps themselves.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Academic division and Medical Center wage employees who work 30+ hours a week during the standard 12-month measurement period (October to October each year) are considered full-time and eligible for health coverage (Basic Health Plan only). UVA monitors your hours to determine if you qualify. You will be notified if you are a wage employee and are eligible for health coverage.

The I-9 Documentation Process - Time Sensitive

Please note that if you are selected into the UVA Temp program, when you are offered a position there is a time-sensitive and mandatory process of completing the I-9 form and submitting documentation within three (3) days of your work start date. Please review the I-9 webpage for details and instructions, and have your required documents ready so when your assignment begins you'll be ready to start on time.
