Updated EAF Information for 2021

Update: Emergency Assistance Fund

The UVA Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF) for Academic Division employees and contracted workers was created to address disruptions in employment and anticipated financial hardships by those affiliated with UVA resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Because the University has returned to normal operations, the EAF is closed as of January 5, 2021. However, all applications submitted as of January 4, 2021 will be processed. 

UVA Medical Center and UPG team members and contractors were supported through a separate program called the Medical Center & UPG Furlough Support Service. This service closed on June 30, 2020 due to the continued progress in the recovery of our health system operations. The program supported:

  • 752 Team Member applications
  • 653 Team Members met funding criteria and were approved for emergency funding
  • $325,000 distributed to Team Members

While these funds were created as a short-term assistance resources with limited capacity, UVA continues to seek additional ways to assist employees going forward. We will keep you apprised of any new resources in the coming weeks, so please check back. 

Employees in need of additional support can turn to the Community Resource Service for assistance in meeting basic needs, or to the Faculty & Employee Assistance Program for counseling and referral services for a wide variety of personal and professional concerns.
