2020 Mindfulness Challenge


Mindfulness is a real-life way to forge relationships, foster healthy habits and create well-being. Begin your mindful journey with the Mindfulness Challenge, which is open to all UVA employees and spouses. Key dates:

  • January 15 - February 28, 2020: Registration open
  • February 3, 2020: Mindfulness Challenge Begins
  • April 10, 2020: Last day for UVA Health Plan participants to record completion and earn $25 in rewards

Participants can access the resources on the Mindfulness Challenge website for the remainder of the year.

How to report completion and earn the $25 reward

  1. Make sure you have checked the box at the bottom of each week's page on the Mindfulness Challenge website that says "I have completed Week # of the Mindfulness Challenge."
  2. After completing all 4 weeks of the Mindfulness Challenge, complete the brief survey that comes up.
  3. Open your Certificate of Achievement in any web browser except FireFox.
  4. Fill in a completion form in the Hoos Well portal, which asks for the Web address of your Certificate of Achievement ("Mindfulness Certificate")
  5. If you have questions when filling out the completion form, please review the step-by-step instruction guide that includes screenshots.

Every week you’ll discover something new!

In each of the four weeks of the Challenge, you'll receive a new set of resources-- including videos, work tips, articles, and guided mindfulness practices.

  1. Step 1

    Foundation (Feb. 3): Learn what mindfulness is, what it isn’t, and how to get started. 

  2. Step 2

    Physical (Feb. 10): Listen to your body so you can take better care of yourself.

  1. Step 3

    Emotional (Feb. 17): Work with your emotions and build resilience.

  2. Step 4

    Social (Feb. 24): Strengthen connections with others  at work and in life.

Notes

  • The Challenge is administered by Aetna Resources For LivingSM , the brand name used for products and services offered through the Aetna group of subsidiary companies.
  • When registering, please leave the "Company Name" field pre-populated as "uva".
  • You will be asked to complete a short survey when registering, and again at the end of the Mindfulness Challenge. 
  • You may be contacted by UVA HR to participate in an optional focus group; your feedback on the Challenge will help us improve our programs.
