UVA Health Orientation

UVA Health Orientation: Your Orientation Day

Welcome to UVA Health! We are glad you are here! UVA Health includes a hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, a nationally recognized cancer center and heart center, and primary and specialty clinics throughout Central Virginia. We rank among the nation’s top hospitals because our doctors, nurses, and caregivers provide a wide variety of high quality, specialized care to patients from across Virginia and beyond. No matter where you are working, patient-centered care is the priority.

The orientation session occurs on your first day as a Medical Center team member, and on or about the first day as a School of Medicine or UVA Physicians Group team member. Depending on your role, orientation and training may take up to two weeks or more to complete. Once all required training is completed, team members may also participate in department-specific orientation.

Because of UVA Health’s commitment to a safe work environment, and the adherence to COVID-19 regulations, new hires no longer attend the morning orientation session in person at the Education Resource Center or afternoon sessions at 999 Grove Street.

Further information about online orientation, including Zoom introduction, will be emailed to the new hire’s personal email address once the new hire has been cleared for hire. The manager of the department will be copied on this email and will be in contact with the new hire shortly thereafter.

To assist UVA Health Orientation attendees and their managers, Remote Onboarding Guides have been created and are located here; they are a great resource for answers about orientation and onboarding processes. Be sure to choose the right guide for your organization.
