UVA Health Orientation

UVA Health Orientation: Your Orientation Day

Welcome to UVA Health! We are glad you are here! UVA Health includes a hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, a nationally recognized cancer center and heart center, and primary and specialty clinics throughout Central Virginia. We rank among the nation’s top hospitals because our doctors, nurses, and caregivers provide a wide variety of high quality, specialized care to patients from across Virginia and beyond. No matter where you are working, patient-centered care is the priority.

Orientation (whether in-person or via a Workday learning module) occurs on your first day as a University Medical Center team member, and on or about the first day as a School of Medicine or UVA Physicians Group team member. Depending on your role, orientation and training may take up to two weeks or more to complete. Once all required training is completed, team members may also participate in department-specific orientation.

UVA Health Orientation offers an in-person session on orientation Mondays for University Medical Center new hires and International Nurse new hires only.

**Masks may be required in the Education Resource Center (ERC) and other UVA Health spaces.**

All UVA Health new hires will receive a Workday learning module that is a recording of the UVA Health orientation presentation.

The module is assigned to all new hires in the University Medical Center, UPG, SOM, MC Travelers, and MC Temps. There will be an attestation at the beginning of the module in which new hires will indicate if they have taken the in-person training or not. If not, they will be prompted to complete the module.

The UVA Health Orientation in-person sessions will take place at the Education Resource Center (ERC), Conference Room A, from 8:00 – 11:00 am., according to the schedule below.

Further information about the process will be emailed to the new hire’s personal email address once the new hire has been cleared for hire. The manager of the department will be copied on this email and will be in contact with the new hire shortly thereafter.

To assist UVA Health new hires and their managers, Orientation and Onboarding Guides have been created. They are a great resource for answers about orientation and onboarding processes. Be sure to choose the right guide for your organization.
