HR Pillar Award - Nominate an HR Colleague

UVA HR Pillar Award

Recognizing and rewarding value is at the heart of our HR culture, and demonstrates how HR team members' contributions directly affect the success of HR and the University.

The quarterly HR Pillar Award has been created by our HR team members for our HR community. It serves as a link to our HR Foundations work by deepening the connection with our purpose and vision, and to President Ryan’s 2030 Strategic Plan of being a great and good university. Nominations are due on the 15th of every month and selected on a quarterly schedule.

Award Categories

The HR Pillar Award has five categories: Customer Experience; Community, Health, & Wellness; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Innovation; and Exceptional Execution. It acknowledges team members who exceed customer expectations, improve people's lives in the UVA or surrounding community, give voice to diverse perspectives, create or streamline a process, and work to complete a project important to HR and/or the University’s mission and vision.

You may nominate a colleague for one or more of the first four categories. The fifth category of Exceptional Execution is for a project team of 7 or fewer individuals.

  • Customer Experience

Honorees are dedicated to continuously improving customer satisfaction, exceeding expectations, and reacting appropriately to ensure customer satisfaction. They establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with fellow staff, faculty, students, and internal/external customers.

HR Pillar: People Focused, Leading Expertise

  • Community, Health, and Wellness

Honorees help to improve the lives of people in the UVA and/or surrounding community. This could include but is not limited to promoting wellness in a department, working with a local non-profit, and helping to coordinate a fundraising effort.
