Field of Play was inspired by the Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) global health initiative, which encourages primary care physicians and other health care providers to include physical activity when designing treatment plans. Through the Field of Play event, and with the endorsement of local physicians, the Hoos Well team hopes to increase awareness of physical activity opportunities in our workplace and the importance of regular exercise as a preventative measure.

The importance of regular exercise for faculty, staff and students cannot be overstressed. Historically, the importance of exercise to improve health and learning was recognized early following the founding of U.S. universities. Innumerable studies have demonstrated the benefits of regular exercise on health and wellbeing.
