UVA Family Support Collab

Appreciating the value of each UVA employee and understanding additional caregiving challenges highlighted by COVID, UVA established the Family Support Collab in June 2021. Bringing together a cross-functional group with experience and insight into caregiving needs and resources, the Family Support Collab aims to better understand and evaluate the needs, challenges, and resources involved in employees’ caregiving needs. Within the next year, the group will:

  • Identify the caregiver priorities which must be addressed
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of existing dependent care benefits offered to UVA Medical Center team members, and UVA faculty, and staff
  • Identify areas of potential improvement
  • Provide recommendations to ensure UVA continues to meet the needs of employees

Resources to Explore

Understanding that, as individuals, every employee has unique needs, the Family Support Collab also aims to raise awareness on an ongoing basis for a variety of caregiving support resources. The resources listed below may be of interest to you or a colleague:

  1. Parent Connection Tool: foster connections with parents or guardians of children of similar ages and situational needs.
  2. Madison House Tutoring: Virtual tutoring & support for those who qualify, prioritizing lower income families.
  3. Bright Horizons Back-Up Care: in-home or facility-based care to meet your unique needs.
  4. Sitter City: find short-term and ongoing care options for children, elders, and pets.
