HR Services: More Ways to Support You

Did you know that some of the most valuable UVA employee benefits are services you may never have used, or may not even know exist?

Starting now and throughout 2027, UVA Human Resources will spotlight resources that support your well-being, professional success, and everyday life. Some services may surprise you! Others may solve a challenge you're facing right now. Our hope is that you will discover something new that benefits you personally or professionally.

Featured This Month: FEAP

This month's featured service is the Faculty Employee Assistance Program (FEAP), a confidential resource available to help employees and eligible family members navigate life's challenges, big or small.

Did you know?

  • FEAP counseling is confidential.
  • You do not need to be in crisis to contact FEAP; everyday challenges are welcome.
  • Eligible UVA employee family members can access FEAP services, too.

FEAP is confidential

Sometimes we might be cautious about seeking support in the workplace, wondering who will know that we asked. Be assured that FEAP provides a private place to talk. Your one-on-one conversations with a FEAP counselor are confidential and not shared with any person or entity.

Whether you're facing a personal concern, workplace challenge, family issue, or simply need someone to talk through a situation with, FEAP provides a private, supportive space to help you move forward.

FEAP support is for everyday challenges, too

Many people assume counseling is only for major life events. In reality, FEAP often helps employees work through everyday concerns before they become overwhelming.

FEAP gives you a confidential place to talk through issues that may feel too small for long-term counseling but are still affecting your well-being, relationships, work, or daily life.

You might reach out because you're:

  • Feeling stressed or burned out
  • Navigating workplace challenges or changes
  • Preparing for a difficult conversation
  • Facing relationship or family concerns
  • Trying to balance work and home life

You don't need a crisis to ask for help; everyday life can be a challenge, too. Sometimes a single conversation can provide perspective and peace of mind.

Eligible UVA employee family members can access FEAP services, too

Many employees are surprised to learn that eligible family members living in their household can also access FEAP services. That means confidential support is available not only for you, but also for loved ones who may be facing personal, relationship, family, or life challenges.

Adult family members age 18 or older who live in the employee's household have access to no-cost, confidential support, including assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-ups. These confidential consultations can be made for any reason, as FEAP consultants support a wide range of concerns.
