Jasmine Porter, M.Ed.
Jasmine Porter, M.Ed., is a career development professional with eight years of experience in career counseling, resume writing, job placement strategies, and interview preparation. She provides comprehensive support for career explorers, individuals undergoing career transitions, and professionals in specialized industries. Her multifaceted experience includes career counseling, college access, admissions, academic advising, grants, DEI initiatives, as well as non-profit and corporate talent development. Jasmine’s unwavering dedication is not only evident in her commitment to UVA staff and team members but is exemplified by her mission to empower individuals to explore their next career steps fully and leverage their talents to their utmost potential in their careers and beyond.
Liz Menter, MS
Liz Menter, MS, is a career coach with thirteen years of experience in higher education specializing in career development and success coaching. With a deep understanding of the power of self-advocacy, Liz leverages her expertise to empower others to explore their career development and take meaningful action toward desired goals. With a unique array of experience in career counseling, college access, admissions, financial aid, academic advising, transfer student support, conduct, conflict resolution, and well-being coaching, Liz is passionate about supporting UVA staff and team members across many functional areas to develop their careers in a personally meaningful way.
Kim Wood
Kim Wood is recognized as a leading professional career coach within the Commonwealth. With an impressive fourteen years of coaching expertise, she brings a wealth of experience to her role at UVA. Kim holds a Virginia Career Coach certification and has successfully completed the Global Career Development Facilitator program, further enhancing her qualifications and knowledge in the field. Her extensive background and dedication make her an invaluable asset in empowering individuals to achieve their career goals.
Claire Ziegler, MA, CRC, CVE
Claire Ziegler, MA, CRC, CVE, is a vocational and career development professional with extensive knowledge of job placement strategies, labor market, transferable skills analysis, career counseling, and resume writing. She has worked with people of all ages at every stage of their career journey, including working extensively with individuals with disabilities looking to enter or reenter the workforce. Claire is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor as well as a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist and is certified in EQ-I 2.0/EQ-I 360. Claire is passionate about encouraging individuals to explore their next step in their career journey. Her goal is to help empower individuals to use their interests, abilities, values, and transferable skills to succeed in their career and professional goals here at UVA and beyond.
Heather Newton
Heather Newton has over sixteen years of career development and communications experience, 10 of those years in Human Resources at UVA. She is a Certified Professional Career Coach and serves as the program manager for the Career Navigation Center, as well as the UVA Dual Career Program for staff (assisting spouses/partners of UVA staff who are seeking employment), and Embark (a platform to elevate regional talent recruitment). Heather has extensive experience supporting individuals through the entire job search process and is passionate about research-driven innovation and human-centered systems.
