University Medical Center: Fall Paid Time Off Cash-Out Is Approaching

As Fall 2025 PTO Cash-Out approaches, it's a good time to log into Workday and review your applicable Paid Time Off (PTO) hours. PTO Cash-Out allows team members to exchange unused PTO hours for monetary compensation. While you review your PTO, keep the following in mind:

  • You may request a PTO Cash-Out in Workday between November 13 and November 23. You will receive an email on November 13 with detailed instructions for cashing out your PTO in Workday.
  • You can review your total PTO balance for the cash-out period by clicking on Absence Balance in Workday and selecting 11/8/25 in the “As Of” field. The amount in the "Balance As of Date" field is your total PTO at the time of cash-out. Additional instructions on viewing and requesting available cash-out amounts will be communicated on November 13—the start of the cash-out period.
  • Your cash-out request cannot exceed the allowed maximum hours as defined in the Paid Time Off Medical Center Policy.
    • University Medical Center: Part E, #4 and #5 of the Paid Time Off Medical Center Policy contains additional information on PTO Cash-Out for Medical Center team members.
    • UVA Physicians Group: Leave of Absence v.5 provides additional information on PTO Cash-Out for UPG team members.
