New to Basic Health? Spend Your Full FSA by December 31, 2023

If you recently enrolled in UVA’s Basic Health option for 2024 for the first time and are currently enrolled in a 2023 Full FSA, you must deplete all money in your Full FSA by December 31, 2023. Otherwise, your Health Savings Account (HSA) -- available only to Basic Health participants -- cannot be opened at Fidelity and you will have to wait until April 1, 2024 for your HSA to be opened and receive employer and/or employee contributions. In addition, you will not be able to use HSA funds to pay for eligible medical services provided prior to April 1, 2024.
