New to Health Savings option? Spend Your Full FSA by December 31, 2024

If you recently enrolled in UVA’s Health Savings option for 2025 for the first time and are currently enrolled in a 2024 Full FSA, you must deplete all money in your Full FSA by December 31, 2024. Otherwise, your Health Savings Account (HSA) -- available only to Health Savings participants -- cannot be opened at Fidelity and you will have to wait until April 1, 2025 for your HSA to be opened and receive employer and/or employee contributions. In addition, you will not be able to use HSA funds to pay for eligible medical services provided prior to April 1, 2025.
