All benefits-eligible Academic Division employees are eligible to receive holiday pay.

(NOTE: Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 is not a holiday. New Year's Day holiday is being observed on Friday, Dec. 31.)

Medical Center team members who work on an approved holiday are eligible to receive holiday premium pay. If you do not work a holiday and your clinic is closed, you can receive pay by using your PTO. For more information, refer to MC Comp Policy 401.

While clinics will be closed during these approved holidays, the hospital, including the emergency room, remains open throughout the year, 24/7.

**Note that if you are a Medical Center employee and your office is closed, you are required to take PTO to cover that holiday.

UPG observed the following Holidays for 2023.  Employees who work 20 or more hours a week received holiday pay, pro-rated to reflect their regular hours worked.

* In lieu of UPG’s typically paid New Year’s Day Holiday for 2023, the holiday was observed on Monday, January 2, 2023.

** In lieu of UPG’s typically paid Christmas Eve Holiday for 2023, UPG added Juneteenth to the Paid Holiday Calendar schedule for 2023.

Note: If you are working in a patient care area, or other area critical to business operations, you may be required to work on a holiday. In this instance, your manager will discuss holiday staffing requirements with you.

UPG observes 8 Paid Holidays each year. Employees who work 20 or more hours a week will receive holiday pay, pro-rated to reflect their regular hours worked.

*In lieu of Christmas Day, which falls on a Saturday this year, each UPG team member will receive a Floating Holiday based on the number of hours you work per week. Example – Full-time employees will receive an additional 8 hours of PTO to use on another holiday or for other personal reasons. These floating hours must be used between January 10, 2021 and December 25, 2021 and cannot be rolled over if they are not used. All PTO hours must be approved by your supervisor and entered into Workday.
