Additional Orientation and Training


Not everyone attends Orientation to Patient Care (OPC), Epic Clinical Training, or Epic Revenue Cycle Training. Each component is created for special work groups. Attendance and participation in the components will depend on your new role. If you are required to attend additional training of any kind, you will receive email notification on next steps.

Additional Training

  • Medical Center Employees Only: Training from Nursing Professional Development Services

    Training with Nursing Professional Development Services is designed for Medical Center employees with direct patient care responsibilities.

    If you are required to complete any of the content, an e-mail will be sent to your personal email account and UVA Health email account outlining next steps. Included in the email will be detailed information on which content will be held as an in-person event and/or completed online as well as any additional tools needed to support training.

    Orientation to Patient Care (OPC) Virtual Content is provided via Workday Learning module
    Introduction to Clinical Care (ICC) In-person Typically occurs the Tuesday of hire week; during peak hiring season it may be scheduled on Wednesday for some
    Transition to Practice for Experienced Nurses (TPEN) In-person For new or transferring experienced inpatient nurses (not travelers); scheduled on the Monday and Tuesday of the 2nd week of hire.
    Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Clinical Orientation Part 1 & 2 In-person Scheduled on either Tuesday & Friday or Thursday & Friday of the first week of hire

     

  • Epic Clinical Training

    If you are scheduled for remote Epic Clinical Training, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log into the WebEx virtual training and instructions on how to access the Epic ACE training environments from a home computer. Included in the email will be detailed information on how to connect to and attend the online class, as well as any additional tools needed to support training. If you do not receive an email, your training will be in-person and further details on time and location can be found in Workday Learning.   • Epic Revenue Cycle Training

    If you are scheduled for Epic Revenue Cycle Training, log into Workday Learning to view your assigned courses and attend your online class(es). Also, log in to any other additional tools you may need to support your training.

    NOTE: Some courses are considered a prerequisite and must be completed prior to your virtual training session.
