Beginning August 2: Train Your Mind Like an Olympian
Hoos Well is excited to be launching a number of new initiatives in support of your well-being that are scientifically-proven to boost happiness and connection and to foster greater health from the inside out.
TRAIN YOUR MIND LIKE AN OLYMPIAN
Like muscles in your body, your brain can be trained, and the 1% Challenge is your chance to do just that.
In the challenge, you'll spend 14 minutes a day learning skills to rewire your brain for better performance and focus. You'll learn how to build resilience, regulate emotions, and be joyfully present in your life. Through the challenge, you'll have the support of experienced teachers and online resources.
The 2,500+ UVA participants of the 2020 challenge reported a 20% decrease in their stress level.
Begin devoting 14 minutes, or 1% of your day, to the challenge between August 2 - 15 and earn up to $50 in rewards. To participate, simply log into or register for eM Life. There's no need to attest to your activity in the portal - everything will be taken care of for you.
HELP US SHAPE FUTURE WELL-BEING PROGRAMS
You are invited to participate in a research study conducted by Hoos Well to compare the effectiveness of two virtual psychological skills training programs. Your feedback will directly help shape Hoos Well programs for emotional well-being. Employees and spouses on the UVA and UPG Health Plans can receive up to $120 in rewards. To participate, choose 1 of 3 virtual programs offered and take up to 5 surveys over the course of a year.
HEALTHY MINDS @ WORK
Olympians train in all aspects of physical fitness: strength, endurance, flexibility. In a similar way, research shows that training in mental well-being involves more than one skill. Beginning in October, you'll have the opportunity to build on your experience in training your attention during the 1% Challenge in the “Healthy Minds @Work” program.
You’ll learn additional skills like awareness, connection, insight, and purpose and will practice training your mind to be more calm and focused, to develop healthier relationships with colleagues, to gain perspective in your workplace interactions, and to bring more meaning to work.
We'll be kicking this program off with a reward-eligible 30 day experience. Look for details coming later this summer.
