Welcome to UVA Community Health.

This page contains orientation and onboarding information for the unique audience of UVA Health Northern Virginia & Culpeper team members. Non-UVA Community Health new hires should refer to the New Hire Portal for onboarding procedures.

Please note: Benefit options are different for UVA Community Health team members. Please refer to the UVA Community Health Benefits webpage for information that pertains to you.

Before You Arrive

If you are selected for a position, your recruiter will review the offer details and discuss a starting date and pre-employment requirements.

If you verbally accept the offer, you will:

  • Receive a formal offer letter via email and accept or decline the offer in the candidate portal.
  • Schedule a required Employee Health assessment with your recruiter at a designated location.
  • The New Hire Health Assessment is required for selected positions at UVA Community Health based on the Occupational Health Policy. All information is maintained confidentially and separately from other UVACH personnel records. In addition to the items below, a new hire health assessment is required. Please upload documentation for each item below to our secure portal.
  • To allow for a comprehensive and quick visit:
    • Please upload the below historical medical documentation:
    • MMR Vaccine x 2 or lab confirmation of immunity
    • Varicella Vaccine x 2 or lab confirmation of immunity
    • TDAP Vaccine
    • Influenza or seek an approved exemption
    • Requests for medical/faith-based exemptions must be made through Employee Occupational Health
    • Covid (not a required vaccine for employment)
    • Hepatitis B vaccine series + immunity (If the antibody is low, the antigen test is required.)
    • In case of a previous reactive TB skin or blood test, documentation of the reactive test and a chest x-ray within six months of hire is required.
  • Labs, including blood and urine, will be collected during your EOH visit. You do not need to fast prior to your appointment. Some groups of newly hired healthcare workers will be required to have a respirator fit test. If you are missing any of the above-mentioned historical documentation, we will address any discrepancies during your Pre-Employment Health Screening.

 

  • Action Needed

    Please bring the following to your appointment:

    • A valid, government-issued photo ID
    • License plate number (for parking validation)
    • During this visit, you will meet with an HR Representative to complete additional paperwork, schedule additional background checks that may be required, and take your UVA Badge photo with the security team 

    You must complete the following additional forms:

    Please complete all (4) forms before your onboarding appointment with Employee Occupational Health (EOH). If items are not received before the visit, or there are delays of over 15 minutes, EOH may need to reschedule your employee health visit.

  • All Team Members

    • Complete pre-boarding tasks and upload additional required documents as needed in the Journeys portal
    • Complete a background check release form and additional background tasks as needed for role
    • Review orientation week email and schedule from UVA CH Learning and Development team. This email will be emailed to your candidate email address the Thursday/Friday before your orientation date.
    • Claim your UVA account. An email will be sent to you once all clearances have been received with instructions on how to claim your UVA account – please complete prior to Day 1 of starting employment.

    All employment offers are contingent on the successful completion of the pre-employment background check and Team Member Health clearance. Clearances must be fully obtained by the Wednesday prior to a new hires starting date.

Orientation Day

You will attend the UVA Health Northern Virginia & Culpeper new hire orientation, MyStart, on your first day of work. Orientation lasts from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm and is held in-person. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Location information and additional details will be provided to you in a welcome email sent the week prior to your orientation date. This email will come to the personal email address used during your hiring process.

Your First Month

By the end of your first month, please ensure you have completed the following:

  • Complete Post-Hire Onboarding Tasks sent to you after starting employment
  • Elect benefits if eligible within first 30 days of employment
  • Scheduled a 30-day check-in meeting with your leader
  • Complete all CBL's on either NetLearning (Culpeper) or Oracle Learn (Northern Market)
  • Refer a friend! Keep track of current referral bonus options via the UVA CH Intranet Human Resources page

  • Training/Enrollment Information

    All new team members will be assigned computer based learning modules that they must complete as soon as possible. These assignments will be in on your LMS transcript and ready for you to begin on your first day of work.
