Support for reducing dependency on tobacco and smoking

Tobacco Cessation Resources

Tobacco usage is the leading cause of preventable death and disability in the world. Quitting tobacco may be the single most important step you can take for improving your overall health, but it can be hard. We want you to know that you’re not alone.

Did you know that using tobacco cessation medications and getting support can double your chances of successfully quitting tobacco? UVA offers free, nonjudgmental support and a broad portfolio of resources including phone-based coaching, ongoing virtual support, and free nicotine replacement therapies and medication.

Resources to Help You Quit Tobacco

  • Phone-based Tobacco Cessation Coaching

In the Hoos Well Portal, participants in the UVA Health Plan or UPG Anthem Health Plan can partner with an experienced tobacco cessation specialist to develop an individualized quit plan, co-create attainable goals, resolve ambivalence, overcome cravings, explore triggers, discover motivators for lasting change, and discuss whether nicotine replacement therapy and cessation-supportive medications are right for you.
