Local Adult/Eldercare

Discounts and Funding Resources for Child Care

  • Virginia’s Child Care Subsidy Program

    Virginia’s Child Care Subsidy Program offers assistance for families in paying child care costs for children under age 13 who are not eligible to attend public school during the part of the day when public education is available, or children with special needs under age 18 who reside with the applicant.

  • Child Care Discounts (Faculty, Staff and Team Members Enrolled in the UVA Health Plan)

    Aetna members are eligible for discounts through LifeMart. Follow the steps below to access:

    • Sign into your Aetna account at Aetna.com
    • Click on the Health & Wellness tab 
    • Click on the At Home Products tile
    • Click on Visit LifeMart
    • Reconfirm your email, then click on View My Discounts

    A few of the child care discounts are below:

    • Kindercare – 10% off tuition
    • Care.com – 30% off subscription
    • Cultural Care Au Pair - $500 off the program fee
  • Virginia Department of Social Services

    Virginia Department of Social Services Financial assistance is provided to eligible families to help with the cost of child care so they can work or attend education programs. Contact your local department of social services or visit CommonHelp.

  • United Way

    The goal of the United Way Early Learner program is to close the opportunity gap by promoting strategies to provide all children with the most appropriate and effective early services, supports and high-quality early child care and education required to achieve the desired outcomes.

    Early Learner Scholarships are for child care and preschool for children from low-income working families. These scholarships give children access to quality, stable early education environments to prepare them for success in school and life.
