Your premium is the amount you pay each month for dental coverage. UVA's contribution is paid by the University and is not deducted from your pay. The total cost combines both amounts.
You receive UVA Basic Dental coverage at no cost. Dependent enrollment is not automatic and must be completed through Workday upon hire, following a qualified life event, or during Open Enrollment.
You may choose to enroll in the Basic Dental option.
In the case of external fellowships that are provided directly to postdoctoral fellows, fellowship allowances may be used to support the full cost of postdoctoral fellow health insurance.
In all cases, departments and postdoctoral fellows must account for the full costs provided above.

The UVA Dental Plan is administered by United Concordia. Both dental plan options cover preventive care at 100% in-network and have the same $50 deductible.
The primary differences:
Basic Dental may be a good choice if you primarily expect preventive care. Enhanced Dental provides greater financial protection if you expect restorative services or major dental work.
